●2008年学生選手権 慶應大学優勝
というわけで今年の学生選手権は決勝で慶應が青学を破り、見事2連覇を達成しました。
予選リーグでは青学に惨敗を喫していましたが、フィールディングファーストを選択し、67ラン前後でオールアウトに取った後は常に先手を取る展開。
終わってみれば16オーバー過ぎに4ウィケットぐらいを残して逆転、と大舞台での試合経験の差を見せた結果となりました。
筆者も初めてアミノバイタルフィールドを見たのですが、人工芝の地面はかなり柔らかく、ピッチもその人工芝をそのまま使ったため、減速が激しく、かつ良く弾むという雨上がりの河川敷のようなコンディションでした。
そのため、ショートした球は簡単にプルでバウンダリーまで運ばれますが、グッドレンスより少し長めの球に対してタイミングが取れずに浮かせてしまうバッツマンが多数。特に青学は球を待ちきれず３スタンプドを献上しました（慶應キーパーは素晴らしいパフォーマンスでした）。
ボーリングも、慶應は全体的にワイドが少なく長めのレンスで、球速で上回る青学ボーラー陣に全く引けを取っていませんでした。
試合会場の雰囲気は中々良く、もし休日に開催されていればもっと盛り上がっていたはずです。
